I am trying to use the cable connectin (USB) to download to a Motorola RAZR V3. Initially I used drivers freely available on the Internet, then I bought Motorola's CD, and installed that. The software on the CD works OK, but I can't seem to use teh Turbo cable utilities.

For instance - I have copied a session with the turbo-rm-apps program below. Even though it says "OK no error", my application is still there after I restart the phone (I loaded it with the programmer). Also the last line (after 1 "-> 029100110000810004FF010D→" takes about 2 minutes). After using the cable program, the phone doesn't respond to AT commands (it doesn't echo the 'T' either), and I have to disconenct the cable and reconnect.

Session with turbo-rm-apps (some line wrapping occurs in posting):

$ /cygdrive/c/bin/Bladox/turbo-cable-utils-0.7.0/bin-win32/turbo-rm-apps.exe -d COM6 -v
initializing modem
1 -> ATV1
1 <- ATV1

1 <- AT+CPMS="SM","SM"

1 -> AT+CMGF=0
1 <- AT+CMGF=0
OK
1 -> AT+CPMS?
1 <- AT+CPMS?
+CPMS: "MT",0,254,"OM",0,254,"IM",0,254

modem initiated
SEND: 01 029100110000810004FF010D→

This command says to use SIM SMS memory to store messages. It's seems not supported/badly implemented by this phone.

Same messages is read as was written, i.e. didn't make it to Turbo/SIM. Problem on phone side, turbo hasn't got anything. Please try to find a way how to force this phone to use SIM memory for SMS, maybe there will be some difference, other (what?) standard used. Then it would be easy to modify cable utils.

I can't find anything in the phone's menus that allows saving SMS's in the SIM. They are so multimedia-oriented, they didn't think of doing that.

Now we bought the RAZR V3 since it appeared in your list. Of course I don't blame you - you can't have tested all those phones to see which do work with cable download.

In fact the only one marked that has both cable download and STK class-e seems to be the Siemens C60. Now I have an MC60 - I will just print the terminal profile....

If you do know which other phones have both class-e and can download via cable - I'd very much like to know!

The terminal profile of the Siemens MC60 is:
(including the first byte which is the length):
11 7f ff ff ff 7f 0f 00 df 7f 00 00 1f 23 00 00 00 03

Maybe some some RAZR AT command list would be available and there could be a hint/workaround.

Oh, sorry, in the list we publish only STK capabilities. Sometimes is the TP sent to us, we don't have access to all/most phones.

As for cable download - all with AT commands for SMS should work but as you can see it's just theory, in practise vendors like to violate standards, devices are buggy. You may try new nokias but they don't have STK networking.

Siemens is probably the best choice here though they may have some issues too (STK networking related). Please report if it works, you may also try to implement own OPEN CHANNEL with stk_cmd(). 11.14 hasn't been settled when we were implementing it and some update in kernel/lib may be needed. But stk_cmd() can do the job, maybe debug kernel could help. Drop a line if you need it.
