Hi,
I'm a student studying SIM cards and for part of my project i'm looking at how the SIM and phone communicate.
I decided to buy a turbo lite 2 as I'd heard it can be used to log this data; question is, how do I do it?

Can i just monitor some of the outputs directly on the tl2, or do I have to buy the programmer? I dont need to input anything at all, just log communications. I will buy programmer if I have to, but i'd rather not as its over my project budget and would probably have to use my own cash (not good as a poor student!)

Any help would be great, thank you

For SIM-ME communication logging you need Turbo Lite 2 and Turbo Programmer 2. You must update/reflash TL2 with L1 debug kernel. It is available here.

Uploading/reflashing TL2 with kernel kernel-TL2-L1-1.2.14.bin:
1. Unzip downloaded kernel first, so you have the kernel-TL2-L1-1.2.14.bin file.
2. Have programmer connected to PC.
3. Insert TL2 into the long card edge connector on programmer.
4. Now use "btldr" command located either in bin-win32 or bin-linux.
On windows do "btldr -d COMx -t kernel-TL2-L1-1.2.14.bin".
5. After ~4 minutes you should have TL2 with 1.2.14 debug kernel.

Debugging on ME-TL2-SIM communication:
1. Have programmer connected to PC.
2. Insert SIM into TL2, TL2 into phone and this to programmer card edge connector
3. Start "dbg" command, e.g. "dbg -d COMx", -h for help
4. Turn on phone
5. You should see flow of apdus
6. On windows CTRL+C to stop the dbg (ENTER somehow doesn't work on windows), hit ENTER on linux. On windows you will have to USB reconnect prog because of the CTRL+C.

"Kernel-TL2-L1.1.2.14.bin.gz"

Is this file really zipped? My unzipper complains about it, I suspect that it is not gzipped.
