Hi,
Ive just recieved a few turbo sims (the blank type) and want to
upload/install some applications onto them. The problem is that
Im new to all this, and cant find basic installation info.
I have 2 phones, nokia 3810 that connects through infra red
and a motorola e398 that connects via bluetooth or usb cable.
Im running windows xp. Ive installed the tsim and the turbo
menu item appears on the phones. Ive downloaded the applications
I want to use and the turbo cable utilities.
Could someone please outline the installation/upload process I
need to follow.
Thanks in Advance
Lubie

Little of theory. The communication with Turbo SIM from PC uses AT commands for SMS. It means that on PC the utilities send AT commanf for e.g. writing SMS to SIM, where the SMS is special formatted and recognized by turbo and used somehow. Then the utility reads the SMS and gets answer from turbo.

It means you need a phone with AT commands for SMS handling (most do, old Nokias used somethign own) and PC to phone connection, in the best case serial cable but it can be emulated by USB/BT/IRDA as well (though there can be problems with drivers emulating serial port over USB, BT,...).

The cable utils are command line based, please open cmd window, go to where you have cable utils installed.

Let's say you want to upload "helloworld.trb", then use:
turbo-app -d COM1 helloworld.trb

"-d COM1" says what serial port to use, e.g COM2, COM3.

To delete all applications (with cable utils it is possible to delete only everything) use
turbo-rm-apps -d COM1

That should be all. Please post your experience/result.
P.

Hm, it seems the device has very limited support of AT commands.

As for phone recommendation - go with any siemens C/S since 35. Avoid A line - these devices have no AT support at all. The cheapest option is C35 I guess.

Thanks for the help.
I got a Siemens CF62 and it worked fine for the installation
of the applications.
I have a question and another problem I hope you can help
me with.
First the problem, I have two phones the siemens and a motorola both
with tsim installed. The moto is on a prepaid sim and the siemens is
on a contract, both from different service providers. When I send an encrypted sms from the moto to the siemens it works, when I send an
encrypted sms from the siemens to the moto nothing arrives. Normal
sms work both ways. When I testPID from the setup menu it works
both ways. Please help me get it working.
The question is what is the network option under setup for? I have two older nokias and this option doesnt appear on the nokias?
Th anks for all your help
Lubie

I would blame the motorola, what model it is? Encrypted sms are not "turbo sim", i.e. don't use 0x7f PID. Can you please contact us on info@bladox.com? We could have some code to test/fix the issue.

Thanks again,
Ive sent an email to you as suggested. I think Ive discovered the
cause of the problem. It seems that the problem is with the Telstra
Mobile Network, I have tried 2 diffeerent phones on the telstra network
and 2 phones on the Optus network and there are no problems with
optus either way, but for some reason the cryptedsms sent on telstra
phones never arrive at their destination buttt normal sms messages
do. Any suggestions?
TIA

That would mean that tlestra has real problem with their infrastructure.

If you send message TO telstra, is it received? FROM telstra insn't, yes? IN telstra isn't as well, right?

Anyway you got mail Smile
