Hi there,
I just purchased a Turbo Programmer 2, a Turbo Lite 2 and the L2 debug kernel.

All I want to do is trace the communications between SIM and Mobile Phone.

What I've done is:

- Connected the TProgrammer to the USB
- Inserted the SIM in the Turbo Lite
- Inserted the L-Cable into the Mobile Phone
- Connected the TurboLite To the TProgrammer
- Downloaded/Extracted the turbo-prog-utils-3.1.6.tar
- Opened a shell and launched dbg
Result:
...nothing...(no output)

- dbg -v

Initializing device
Device initialized
Entering Application Mode
Application Mode entered

...and nothing else...

- OS is Windows XP on a Dell Inspiron 8100 (Pentium 4)
- On the Mobile Phone I can see the Turbo additional Menu with my STK menu correctly inserted into it
- On the Programmer the RUN led is on, but the others off

Please note that at this moment I haven't installed any particular kernel on the Lite, I assumed that the L1 Kernel was already installed (and by the way, I have no idea on how to install the L2 Kernel I just bought).

Have you any idea?

Many thanks

By the way, I have tried this too:

- SIM Card into the TURBO Programmer 2
- TURBO Programmer 2 connected via USB
- windows shell -> sim_dump.exe

--> Nothing is displayed Shocked

I also tried to upload the new Kernel (L2...), but the command btldr.exe L2Kernel... has the same behaviour (waited 2 minutes).

No more ideas...

Little legal notice ...
Please note that the following has been my solution, I'm not responsible to damages caused by someone's programmer/lite or so on caused by this procedure.

Ok, I know it's quite strange to reply myself, but perhaps someone will have the same little trouble I had.

My goal is ONLY to trace what happens between SIM and ME.

So, what I've done to make it all working is:

1. Install the file found at http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm (Windows XP)

2. The found new hardware should come out after a while, saying a new COM8 port has been found. This COM8 is the USB port redirected to a virtual standard COM port

3. Now all the commands you send to the Turbo Programmer must have the -d COM8 option (f.i.: sim_dump.exe -d COM8 or dbg -d COM8)

4. Upgrade the Turbo Lite this way:

- Insert the flexible cable into the SIM-Lock ON THE TURBO PROGRAMMER (could be a little tricky because of the position of the cable...I removed the moving part of the sim lock and repositioned it after inserting the SIM)

- Unpug-replug the USB cable (otherwise by me it doesn't work) and try f.i. with a SIM-DUMP if the programmer "can see" the "fake" SIM

- btldr.exe -v -d COM8 -s kernel-L2-ot6n-mb6rkria5-1.2.5.bin
(use the -v option to see the stages of the flash).

- When it says that the flash has been completed, unplug the usb, remove the flexible from the programmer, put it into the mobile phone, put the sim into the TURBO Lite and insert the TURBO Lite in the programmer (with the large connector).

5. Now do dbg -d COM8

By me it worked!!

cheers
