pls am new to eveything here . I've gotten a new turbo sim. but am having problems compiling most of the examples . I use cygwin on win 98 (old I know). what should I do. havent used cygwin before

This is too generic question, can you post details on what problems are you facing? Try to compile helloworld and do "make 2>&1|tee log.txt" and send the log.txt.

when I typed the command you gave what I got was :

BASH:make:command not found

please what does it mean

You have uncomplete cygwin installation, make is part of cygiwn - devel packages.
